What is the value of the material I want to recycle?
It is difficult to provide you with an exact figure. When you are contacted by our representative, they should be able to quote you an indicative price , although the aggregate dollars will not be known until it is accurately graded and weighed.
Minimum quantities apply for collection events. One of our representatives will discuss this with you when they make contact with you shortly.
What is the payment process?
If Sims Metal or one of our contractors collects your items you will be issued with a receipt on collection. If a rebate has been negotiated with you for the goods to be collected (based on location, material type and volume), your goods will be weighed and payment will be sent to you within seven days of the collection, or, you can call in to our depot for a prompt payment.
You can be paid on the spot if you bring your recyclable items to our depot.
Please note – you will be required to provide identification as per regulatory guidelines.

Will it be Sims Metal or a contractor that collects the items?
The collection of your items may be carried out by SIMS directly, or by one of our contracted collectors depending on the suburb of the pick-up and the quantity of items to be collected.
Do I get the same amount if a contractor collects my goods?
All rebates will be discussed with you before a collection event. Rebates will be dependant on the location, type and quantity of materials for collection. One of our representatives will discuss this with you when they make contact with you shortly
How long will it be before Sims collects my items?
Sims Metal aims to ensure all “Cash 4 Scrap” items will be collected within 7 days of first contact. Collection will be dependant on the location, type and quantity of materials for collection.
If I am not sure an item is suitable for recycling should I leave it out anyway? (Refer to list. If it is not on the item list please respond with the following)
If you are not sure an item can be recycled ask the Sims Customer Service Officer when they contact you to organize collection.
Sims Metal will only collect items that can be recycled.
Will the collectors remove steel pipes etc from walls or fittings or does it all need to be removed?
All of these items should be left out for collection in an easily accessible location for our service vehicles. If you are unable to move or dismantle something please discuss this with our Customer Service Officer when they contact you to organize collection.

Is there a minimum load or will Sims Metal only collect large loads?
If you only have small items or if you are able to transport recyclable items yourself we recommend that you bring these to our depot as you will receive prompt payment.
If you only have a small load and are unable to bring it to our depot we will make a decision regarding collection when we have spoken to you.
I have an old car will you collect this?
Yes, we will collect old cars.
Will you provide me with a skip-bin free of charge?
